Does as advertised. Have had heartrate occasionally disappear with weight lifting/boxing movements, but the device is designed to compensate for this and will give an overall accurate heartrate average for an entire workout. Compared to other brands this is a really low profile watch and is fairly small, which is great. The strap is very secure and as such can be a bit hard to put on or take off, but otherwise no complaints.

Fitbit not at a good place in SA at the moment. They don't even have a repair centre in SA anymore. My Charge HR strap broke and they sent it back. Not repairable, after enquiring I found out they have no Repair centre.

Have had the Charge 2 for about a week now, and absolutely love it. Upgraded from the original Flex and what a difference it makes. Disclaimer: I'm not an athlete - just an average joe dude who wants to keep track of my steps, heart rate, calories and exercise. I have heard reviews that said the Charge 2 is a tad inaccurate on the heart rate at higher levels, and of course, you can't swim with it. Other than those two things (which don't really bug me), it's a very nice device. I like the fact that you don't need to remove the device from its bands to charge (the charger just clips over the whole thing), which reduces wear-and-tear on the bands. I like the customizable display and the "lift your arm to activate" feature. But oddly, the thing that I like the most is that it can display its ACTUAL battery percentage, giving you much more control over when you need to recharge it - as opposed to just "Green", "Orange" and "Red shit shit shit shit charge now too late dead".
Two thumbs up for the Charge 2 from me.

Device isnt too bad, however i struggle to get the GPS to work. Cycled for 20km and it showed a 0.00km distance traveled in that 2 hours.

Great product that easily syncs with your smart phone and Myfitnesspal. I was quite surprised by how accurate the sleeping tracker is.

bought mine elsewhere about 3-4 months ago, works well,
auto detect exercise/ heart rate monitor
battery life is about 6-7 days for me
awesome app with community
its not water proof
no gps, it does use the phones gps though
my strap started breaking off the hinges in month 2-3,
fitbit support not that great based on my one experience as well as what i read up
3 weeks later i got a replacement (full device), sucks if you a vitality member, 3 weeks of missing data

It's mostly a good watch. Rubber strap is prone to warping and bubbling after a few months and is a known highly common defect of the rubber straps. You just need to get it replaced over and over or buy a different material strap. Ensure you have a phone that is compatible as watch does not work with bluetooth 4.1

Does not support all smartphones. Be sure to check the list of supported devices before buying. Fitbit also refuses to exchange / refund the device if it does not sync with your smartphone.

This item is perfect for day to day use/monitoring but not for exercising. It will not pick up your heart rate accurately unless your arm is straight with no bending of the wrist. As you can imagine, this means during exercises such as spinning, weightlifting or sprinting the Fitbit fails to keep an accurate heart rate.
Unfortunately, this seems to be a common problem for this device as well as many other wrist based heart monitors.
But if you intend to use it to track steps, or calories and heart rate throughout the day then it works well.

I have repeatedly requested help with the set-up of the 2 Fitbit Charge2 that I purchased. I have, many times, stated the following:
â€œI purchased two Fitbit Charge2 about ten days ago.
I followed the instructions as required and was surprised that when asked to select a region, Africa - specifically South Africa did not appear on the list.
1.I selected UK in order to proceed with the installation and then had to fill in a personal form in Imperial units! There was no option (then) to use the metric measures so I had to convert height and weight into cm and kg. I found this very irritating as it was not what I expected.
2. I then ended up at "Fitbit connect" which simply said "Plug in a dongle". I re-checked both boxes to make sure that I had not missed any possible "dongle" and then entered details of my problem on the "fitbit setup" page with a request for help.
3. I was then convinced that what seemed to be a competitive price was turning out to be not so - and I then realised that I had (probably) purchased "grey imports"
4. I have had no response from "Fitbit" and have been unable to establish what kind of dongle is being referred to.
In addition, I wrote the following:
I went on to the FitBit site and completed the relevant information and description of the problem with no response. I then completed your on line survey where I repeated what I had said before â€“ also no response.
Quite disgusting service ...

I got one as a gift 2 weeks ago and it has really helped me track my day to day! The food database isn't relevant to SA, but it syncs up beautifully to MyFitnessPal which is awesome! Tracking my sleep, water consumption, calories burned, heart rate and step count have been so great! It doesn't alert me to WhatsApp or Email messages, but it alerts me to iMessages and calls - which works for me because it's mainly what I need. Counting flights of stairs and vibrating alerts are a plus too. So, so happy with my little Fitbit Charge 2!

Takealot.com was very fast to deliver. Fitbit Charge 2 works well. Nice to challenge yourself daily. I linked it to my Discovery Vitality account to achieve vitality rewards. I have noticed that the heart rate monitor goes a bit faulty when I'm doing a long run over 20 minutes & my wrists become sweaty, not excessively sweaty in my opinion. I had to slow myself down mid-run to remove the fitbit & give it a wipe & also wipe my wrist. This happened about 3 or 4 times before my 30 minute run was over.

Cannot use it while rowing or weight lifting. Unit doesnt pick up your heart rate when your arm is tense. Support in SA is very poor! They just refer you to the International Website and contacts.

Please confirm urgently how often the battery should be charged. I bought this item for my husband and am comparing it to my exact same one purchased elsewhere and there is a difference as to how long his battery life is.
